Help Secure the Future of the Sanctuary at Greenbank Farm

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Those of you who follow us on social media or YouTube will know we had a frightening incident recently involving Renske, one of our beloved older horses.

This has prompted me to take action on something I've been considering for some time.  If you have 15 minutes please head to the video on YouTube here.  Otherwise, do read on...

Firstly, let me share a bit of our story.

Greenbank Farm isn't just a picturesque landscape; it's a place that dates back to 1640 and is teeming with history and hard work. My sister Tamara and I often joke that our epitaphs will read, "I just need to...," a phrase that perfectly encapsulates the perpetual task list we face.

For nearly two decades, Friesian horses have been a central part of our lives here. Their well-being has always been our top priority.

By shying away from traditional commercial practices in favour of methods that prioritise their health and happiness, we've had to get creative to ensure their care without compromising their well-being.

It's this commitment to our values that has led to us becoming a Sanctuary. People know we will always do our utmost for these majestic animals.

When I first arrived at the farm, I knew traditional farming wasn't going to cut it. So, I chose a different path, one fuelled by passion and a deep-rooted belief in what we're doing here.

Our journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

We've met incredible people, and the experiences they've had with our horses have been described as "priceless" and, in many cases, "life-changing".

However, despite the joy and fulfilment this Sanctuary brings us, the reality is that without adequate funding to action renovations that will enable us to find ways to generate an income from the farm, the future of the Sanctuary is uncertain.

Tamara loses sleep worrying about repairs and generating enough income to sustain the farm, while I lie awake, concerned about the toll our living conditions are taking on our health which in turn affects how we can care for the horses and this historic farm.

Now, finding a way for a small farm to thrive in today's climate, especially when horses are involved, isn't easy. But my primary concern remains the welfare of our horses. I'm driven to create facilities that not only improve their lives but also allow us to share their magic with visitors, both in person and online.

Thanks to the support of one of our Guardian Angels, Tara Cohn, we're finally putting our dreams into action. We have plans in the works, and our first planning meeting is scheduled for April 18th. But turning these dreams into reality requires time and some serious fundraising.

So, here's where you come in. While we work on our long-term plans, we need to address immediate needs. We have buildings in disrepair that need attention to ensure they stand strong for generations to come.

This is where we need your help.

Today, we're launching a campaign to raise £100,000.

Yes, it's ambitious, but with your support, we can make it happen.

Together, we can rebuild, revamp, and restore.

One of our key projects involves the renovation of a derelict stable, a space that holds immense potential. Once completed, this stable will not only provide essential shelter for our beloved older horses but will also serve as a unique and immersive experience for visitors in the summer months.

Picture a space where visitors can connect with our horses, or even our pet sheep, on a deeper level, experiencing firsthand the beauty and tranquility of life on this idyllic farm.

Additionally, we're embarking on the crucial task of re-roofing a building that once served as a stable. This building, with its rich history and character, is ripe for restoration, and with your support, we can breathe new life into it.

Here is where it gets exciting!

For donors in a position to make significant contributions of £5,000 or above, we're offering a truly special opportunity.

We have SIX original 'corner stones' from the building, each representing a cornerstone of support for our mission. These stones, quite literally supporting the corners of the building, will be engraved with the names of our generous supporters, serving as a lasting testament to their commitment and belief in our cause.

For those who may not be able to contribute at that level, we have other options for recognition and should you wish, your names will appear on plaques within the building.

£1,000 to £4,999 ($1267 to $6366) will be recognised as 'Kroon Donors’

£500 to £999 ($630 to $1266) will be recognised as ‘Ster Donors’ in reference to some of the grading levels of the Friesian horses with their official studbook the KFPS.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Your support not only helps us achieve our goals but also ensures the preservation of this part of the historic property and the Sanctuary for generations to come.

So please, consider contributing to our campaign and leaving your mark in history.

Together, we can make a lasting impact and secure the future of the Sanctuary at Greenbank Farm.

If you don’t wish to be named on any of our online platforms please make your donation ‘anonymous’

As we know not everyone is comfortable donating in this way we also have a paypal account linked to the fundraising or can provide bank details to anyone wishing to donate directly.

Please contact me directly for this information.

Thank you for being part of our community and family. Your support means the world to us.
