Working to fit in, flying under the radar, gaining a bit of weight, finding ways to manage her anxiety, and being her beautiful self!

Inne was bon in the Netherlands in 2010 (Maurus x Nano). At age eight, she was brought to the UK by a lady who loved her, considered her part of the family, and intended for Inne to stay with her for life. A bright, kind, and willing mare, Inne hasn't a mean bone in her body. However, she has some quirks which her owner found challenging to deal with. Full of energy, Inne expresses anxiety through mood swings and these quirky behaviors. As such, she needs a lot of reassurance and confidence from those around her.
Wanting to better understand Inne and improve their relationship, her owner brought Inne to train under Tracey's care in 2021. Health issues were investigated as a cause of some of Inne's issues but were ruled out. Over time, Inne made progress. Her confidence grew, as did that of her owner, and there was every thought that their future together looked bright.
As happens, life didn't quite go to plan. In 2024, Inne's owner reached out again. Through a very heartfelt letter, she explained that her life had gotten very busy and left little time to give Inne the level of relationship she deserved. As she hated the thought of selling Inne, she asked if Tracey might take her into our sanctuary. As there was no room at the Farm at the time, the next best option was to place Inne in one of our foster homes. (We maintain a network of fosterers who share our beliefs and will provide best Friesian care). The perfect opportunity unfortunately fell through, and so, with winter ahead, and as space had opened up with the loss of our dear Wybren ("Teddy Bear"), we decided to keep Inne at the Farm and reconsider foster care in 2025.
Little by little, Inne continues to settle in with The Girls, helped by her having spent time with them previously. In November of 2024, with the help of our supporters', we had Inne scoped for stomach ulcers which could affect her ability to keep weight on and contribute to her quirky behaviors. No sign of ulcers was found, and she is slowly putting on weight. For now, Inne will receive best care with us at Greenbank Farm, and we'll see what 2025 brings.
