We had such an amazing response to our Summer Bug Rug Sponsorship last year. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored a rug.

We are opening sponsorship for our three newest sanctuary residents - Troy, Wee Troy & thistle. 

Now that they have arrived, begun settling into life at Greenbank and you have had the chance to meet them, you can choose which of our three new arrivals you would like to sponsor.

About the Bug Rugs

Living in a valley surrounded by trees and water means we get a lot of midges and horseflies, particularly between mid June and mid August.

While we do use fly spray as a deterrent, this alone is not enough to keep them protected 24 hours a day. Over the years, we have tried many different types of fly sheets with mixed success. By far the best we have found, in terms of effectiveness, durability and fit, are the rugs shown here, sold by Ruggles.

We ordered a fly sheet for each of our three new residents so they would have them ready for their arrival and be protected from the midges and horseflies while settling into their new surroundings.

As we did with our winter rugs, we are now offering you the chance to sponsor one of these bug rugs, with your name embroidered alongside the horse’s name.

These rugs are exceptional quality and should last for two to three seasons, helping to keep each of our newest residents comfortable and protected throughout the summer.

Sponsorship Details

We are asking for a donation of £85 per horse. This covers the cost of the rug, along with the embroidery of your first name and initial alongside the horse’s name on the side.
