Donate to Help Save Neeka's Vision
£5.00
Our beautiful Ineke fan de Groenbank was recently diagnosed with a genetic eye condition called Bilateral Corneal Stromal Loss (BCSL). It can impact both eyes and lead to complete vision loss if treatment.
Fortunately, Neeka's ulcers were discovered early, and she has been under the specialty care of the Drs. Chris Dixon and Gary Lewin at Veterinary Vision and supported by our regular vet Sam Galloway from Frame & Swift. Despite daily care and several surgeries, Neeka has again gone to surgery today (Dec 24).
As always, with the support of our animal- and Friesian-loving community, we will give Neeka every chance possible to fight this serious condition until she lets us know otherwise. She has been a very good patient, and we remain cautiously optimistic.
Today's surgery to transplant a bit of her own corneal material to cover the leaking ulcer site is expected to cost in the range of £3-4K. It resulted in very positive news, showing her previous donor graft was 90% successful!
For those able, any amount you can contribute will be most gratefully received. As always, thank you for your love and care for our Sanctuary residents.
